The Pros and Cons of Shutters vs Blinds

Deciding whether to add shutters or blinds to your windows can be a difficult choice. Each one has their own unique advantages and disadvantages when compared directly, so it can be difficult to decide which one is right for you. Here are a few of the pros and cons of each.

Shutters:

• Pros: Shutters have the advantage of being simple to clean, and durable. They are a desirable feature in your home and can be very appealing stylistically. Shutters also help control the temperature in your whole, as well as having a wide variance in how much light they let in.
• Cons: Shutters do struggle to block out light completely, because closed shutters may still let lines of light through.

Blinds:

• Pros: Blinds have the advantage of being easy to replace and install, as well as having a wide variety of customization. They are inexpensive, and can be pulled up to let a lot of light in.
• Cons: On the negatives, however, blinds can appear and feel cheaper than shutters. They can be had in blackout variants, but they are much more expensive. Blinds can be difficult to clean, depending on the material.

Deciding between shutters and blinds can be difficult. However, make sure to figure out carefully whether shutters or blinds would be best suited to the space you are trying to install by using the above-mentioned pros and cons.
