Granite Countertops VS Quartz Countertops – Why Granite is Better

Granite Countertops VS Quartz Countertops – Why Granite is Better

If you are looking for a new countertop for your kitchen, two of the countertops you might consider are granite countertops and quartz countertops. So, which are better – granite countertops or quartz? Both of them have their benefits, but there is one big reason that we believe that countertops made of granite are better: granite is more durable.

Even though both of them are durable, it also depends on what you are going to be doing with your countertop. If you cook and bake, you want to choose granite, since it can withstand things better than quartz.

Here are some examples:

  • Quartz Will Burn Easier – It’s not as heat resistant, so you can’t put hot items on the quartz countertop like you can with a granite countertop.
  • Quartz Scratches Easier – Even though it won’t scratch easily using it normally, it is definitely going to scratch much easier when something is dropped on it or when a knife slips.
  • Chips are Harder to Repair – Even with its durability, granite will chip sometimes. But there are repair kits for granite that you can buy that makes it easier. However, with quartz, the repair is harder and it’s a lot more noticeable and harder to polish it out.

If you are looking for a countertop that you can count on and that you don’t have to worry about as much, granite countertops are the ones to choose. They are easy to maintain and they come in lots of colors. Plus, as we have mentioned, they’re much more durable.
