4 Red Flags That Mean You Should Call for Heating Services

When you have a cold spell coming up, then you need your heater to work properly in order to keep your home warm and comfortable! Unfortunately, furnaces and heaters that might have worked fine the last time you turned them on might not be working so well this season. In fact, there are sometimes that you might be wondering if you need to call for a professional to take care of some heating services for your furnace or heater. Here are a few of those red flags that you will want to watch out for:

  1. Strange Noises. If you are experiencing anything more than the hum of the fan when your furnace is running, then you might be running into trouble. Your heating should never bang, clang, rattle or even whistle.
  2. Furnace Age. Your heating system likely was not built to last forever. The age of your furnace can be a red flag on it’s own because a furnace is only meant to last so long. If your heater is on the aging side, pay special attention to other red flags.
  3. Odd Smells. Sometimes you might smell a bit of stale air when your furnace comes on for the first time and that is normal. However, you should never smell the smell of natural gas or rotten eggs (sulfur) when your furnace is running.
  4. Fan Running without Warm Air. If the fan is running and there is no warm air, it either means that something is broken or there is not enough warm air to circulate through the home. Be sure to call on this red flag immediately and contact your local heating services contractor. If you are worried about your furnace or if it is exhibiting any of the above-mentioned red flags, please call HVAC experts near you for professional heating services!
