3 Tips for Keeping a Real Christmas Tree Fresh

A real Christmas tree is a beautiful and traditional decoration that, if taken care of, can last and look lovely for weeks. There is always something about choosing the perfect Christmas tree each year, but keeping a real Christmas tree fresh can be a challenge. If you are used to fake trees or it has been a while since your last real tree, you may not be familiar with the process. Here are some tips for keeping a real Christmas tree fresh.

1. Lots and Lots of Water – You will need to ensure that the tree gets into water as soon as you bring it home. Water is the most important thing that will help to preserve your tree. Make sure to check the water level daily to help keep the tree fresh for as long as possible.
2. Be Aware of Heat and Light Sources – When you are deciding where to place your tree, make sure you are aware of all the heat sources, including sunlight, that could affect the tree. Do not place your tree directly beside the fireplace or over a heat register. Heat and light will dry the tree out faster than you want.
3. Trim the Trunk – Often there is a resin coating on the base of your tree that will prevent it from absorbing water. Make sure to check and trim the trunk if necessary.

One last tip is to get rid of your tree before it completely dries out. This will help to prevent your floor from being covered in pine needles. It can be challenging at first, but with these tips, keeping a real Christmas tree fresh is easy and you should have a beautiful tree for a long time.
