Who Are Hockey Programs Designed For?

Who Are Hockey Programs Designed For?

When looking at hockey programs you may be wondering who these programs are targeted at. While your gut reaction may be that hockey programs are oriented towards adolescent boys, that is not true. Hockey Programs are for everyone regardless of age and gender. Here are some groups that hockey programs target that you may not be aware of.

  • Girls: While anyone is allowed to learn hockey, sometimes the sport can be gender exclusive, but it does not have to be! Just because a space is dominated by boys does not mean girls are not welcome. Hockey programs are open to all who want to play hockey.
  • Young Children: While most people recommend not to start a child younger than 5 in hockey, that does not mean they can only start at 5! Any kid 5 and older than wants to start playing hockey should be free to join hockey programs that suit their needs and teach them useful skills.
  • Teens: Sometimes kids start late in hockey, but it is less common that a teenager starts on the ice. However, it is never too late to start! A teenager should pursue whatever interests they want, and if they want to play hockey then they should go pursue some hockey programs!
  • Adults: People often view hockey as something that kids do for fun, but hockey will always be fun regardless of how old you are. That is way it is never too late to start playing! With hockey programs you can find your way on the ice and learn to play and improve at hockey even if you are not a child anymore.

While not everyone is interested in hockey, those that are should pursue it no matter their age! With hockey programs you can play no matter your age.
