Visiting a gun store for the first time can be an intimidating experience, but it does not have to be! Here are a few things you can prepare for, and a few things to keep in mind while visiting a gun store for the first time.

• Know Gun Safety Before Buying a Gun: If you do not know how to safely possess a gun, then you should not be purchasing and possessing a gun. It is important to yours and others safety to know how to properly handle a gun before you visit a gun store to handle and purchase a gun of your own.
• Research: Having a basic knowledge of what you want before you visit a gun store will make your trip go a lot smoother. You do not need to know everything but having some knowledge of the market you are in can help the sales associates help you.
• Ask Questions: Don’t be afraid to ask the sales associates questions. They are very knowledgeable about these things and have a lot of info that can help you figure out what you should buy. It may also be advantageous to tell the associate that this is your first time visiting a gun store, because they will be even more willing to help and provide insight and knowledge.
• Leave if You’re Not Comfortable: If the environment in the gun store makes you uncomfortable, then you are free to leave. Not every gun store will have a vibe that will make you comfortable, so feel free to try other gun stores to find one that makes you comfortable.

Going to a gun store for the first time doesn’t need to be intimidating, if you are prepared. Make sure to know why you’re going to the store and leave your pride at the door so that way the sales associates can help you as much as possible.
