Club Activities for 2012
Think green! We'll be exhibiting ways to protect the environment with green gardening practices. Read more information about the fair in the TribLocal.
March 17 - Green Living Fair
10am - 2pm - Libertyville Civic Center
April 7 and April 14 - 8am - Rose Garden in Cook Park
Each spring the club members work on two consecutive Saturday mornings in Cook Park in downtown Libertyville to prepare the rose beds for the upcoming growing season. On the first Saturday we remove the leaves from the beds and on the second Saturday we prune the existing roses and plant new roses.
May 12 - Plant Sale - Libertyville Civic Center - 8:30-11:00 am
Each year on the Saturday prior to Mother's Day the club sponsors a plant sale. We stock the sale with plants that are taken almost entirely from our members' yards and gardens. Most of the plants are perennials although we have some annuals as well. Make sure to come early because the plants sell quickly.
June 23 - Annual Garden Walk - 10:00 am - 3:00 pm
Watch for more details about the garden walk by early Spring.
July 20 - Annual Picnic - Old School Forest Preserve - Shelter "D"
Old School Forest Preserve is located in Libertyville. The entrance and parking area are located on Saint Mary's Road just south of Route 176, and north of Route 60 (Townline Road).
October 27 and November 3 - 8am - Rose Garden in Cook Park Each fall the club members work on two consecutive Saturday mornings in Cook Park in downtown Libertyville to prepare the rose beds for the winter season. On the first Saturday we begin preparation for winter and on the second Saturday we mulch and put the rose beds to rest until Spring.
December 7, 2012 - Annual Dinner - Saddlebrook Farms - 5:30 appetizers; 6:15 dinner
This is the club's culminating event held each year in December. At this meeting we give awards, elect officers, eat good food, drink good wine, and reminisce about the previous year's gardening.
