1. Features – The first thing you want to consider is the features of the service. You want to choose one that offers more than one pay options, such as paper checks, direct deposit and others. It’s also a good idea to see if they have unemployment insurance garnishment payments, and payroll reports that are detailed.
2. How Easy It is to Use – Secondly, you want to choose a payroll solution that isn’t very hard to understand. The interface should be easy to use and let you add employees and run payroll quickly. The last thing you want is to spend a lot of time trying to figure it out.
3. Cost – Finally, you want to consider the cost. You want to make sure that you can afford it. Not only that, but you want to see if you need to sign a contract. Some will require a yearly commitment while others go month to month. You also want to know if you’re paying per pay period or month. Depending on the frequency you are running payroll, the kind of structure that’s selected could cost you a lot.
